Alarm Switch Interface

Do you have an alarm system?  Exit Technologies LLC offers an electrical accessory to interface the FastExit security bar release with virtually any Security Alarm System.  This kit provides a single pole double throw magnetic reed switch that changes state and remains activated when the Bars to which the FastExit are opened.  This allows you or your electrician to accommodate both series and parallel circuits.  The contacts are hermetically sealed for reliability.  Maximum ratings are 3 amps and 100 volts.  The quality Hamlin reed switch attaches by removing two screws on the release face (this can easily be done as a retrofit operation).  The switch bracket is mounted with those two screws.  The FastExit comes standard with the actuating magnet built in.

When the outside security bars are closed and locked, the magnetic switch is opened, i.e., the magnets are separated as pictured here on the left.  Once the release handle is depressed and the FastExit releases the burglar bars, the magnetic switch is closed, i.e., the magnets are brought close together. This also allows the switch to be ON or OFF when the bars are open in order to interface with almost any type of alarm system.

The switch is supplied with 12 inch flying leads.   As pictured here on the left, wires can easily pulled into the wall through a grommet in the wall plate of the release.  This is ideal for new construction when retrofitting issues, such as cosmetic appeal or tampering with the wires on the exterior of a wall, are a concern.  The wires can also exit from under the cover for a surface run next to the window trim, as pictured here on the right.
